【摘要】:1.1Thisguideprovidesdescriptionsofvariousdrillingmethodsforenvironmentalsitecharacterizationalongwithadvantagesanddisadvantagesassociatedwitheachmethoddiscussed.AcomprehensivedescriptionofthesedrillingmethodscanbefoundinindividualASTMstandards,seeSection.Thisguideisintendedtoaidintheselectionofdrillingmethod(s)forenvironmentalsoilandrockboringsandtheinstallationofmonitoringwellsandotherwater-qualitymonitoringdevices.1.2Thisguidedoesnotaddressmethodsofwellconstruction,welldevelopment,orwellcompletion.ThesetopicsarecoveredinotherASTMdocuments,seeSection.1.3Thisguidecannotaddressallpossiblesubsurfaceconditionsthatmayoccursuchas,geologic,topographic,climatic,oranthropogenic.Siteevaluationforengineering,design,andconstructionpurposesisaddressedinGuideD420.1.4ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasthestandard.Becausedimensionsofmaterialsusedinthedrillingindustryaregivenininch-poundunitsbyconvention,inch-poundunitsalsoareusedinthisguide.1.5Thisguidedoesnotspecificallyaddressmethodsoflithologicsamplecollection,suchascoring,thatmayrequiretheuseofaspecificdrillingmethod.OtherASTMguidesshouldbeconsultedforsamplingmethods(seeGuideD6169)andequipmentnecessaryforspecificprojects.1.6Thisguidedoesnotpurporttocomprehensivelyaddressallofthemethodsandtheissuesassociatedwithdrillingforenvironmentalpurposes.Usersshouldseekqualifiedprofessionalsfordecisionsastotheproperequipmentandmethodsthatwouldbemostsuccessfulfortheirsiteinvestigation.Othermethodsmaybeavailablefordrillingandqualifiedprofessionalsshouldhaveflexibilitytoexercisejudgmentastopossiblealternativesnotcoveredinthisguide.Theguideiscurrentatthetimeofissue,butnewalternativemethodsmaybecomeavailablepriortorevisions;therefore,usersshouldconsultwithmanufacturersorproducerspriortospecifyingprogramrequirements.1.7Pertinentguidesaddressingspecificdrillingmethods,equipmentandproceduresarelistedin.Acomprehensivelistofguides,methods,practices,andterminologyfordrillingiscontainedinGuideD5730.Otherdocumentscoveringproceduresforenvironmentalsiteinvestigationswithspecificobjectivesorinparticulargeographicsettingsmaybeavailablefromfederal,state,andotheragenciesororganizations.Theappropriateagencyororganizationshouldbecontactedtodeterminetheavailabilityandmostcurrenteditionofsuchdocuments.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.1.8Thisguideoffersanorganizedcollectionofinformationoraseriesofoptionsanddoesnotrecommendaspecificcourseofaction.Thisdocumentcannotreplaceeducationandexperienceandshouldbeusedinconjunctionwithprofessionaljudgement.Notallaspectsofthisguidemaybeapplicableinallcircumstances.ThisASTMstandardisnotintendedtorepresentorreplacethestandardofcarebywhichtheadequacyofagivenprofessionalservicemustbejudged,norshouldthisdocumentbeappliedwithoutconsiderationofaproject''smanyuniqueaspects.Theword"Standard"inthetitleofthisdocumentmeansonlythatthedocumenthasbeenapprovedthroughtheASTMconsensusprocess.
